It is said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. That can be OK when you are talking about clothes or hairstyles, but NOT when you are talking about high quality Manuka honey from New Zealand. (On a positive note, it just shows how fantastic Manuka is or others wouldn’t be copying it.) There was an article recently in the New Zealand Herald, http://nzh.tw/11699412, reporting on rogue honey producers passing off non-Manuka honey as premium Manuka! Shame on them. We, at Beeternal, however, are proud to use genuine Manuka honey and pure bee venom supplied by Nelson Honey of New Zealand. They follow strict protocols and even offer a “Batch Track” service where you can track your actual jar of honey back to the batch it came from and see the results of the independent tests that rate the Methylglyoxal (MG) component. The MG or MGO is the rating factor that tells how much of the Non-Peroxide Activity (NPO) is present in the honey. In simple terms, this rates the anti-bacterial activity that is the key to the health properties of the Manuka honey. We are confident that the honey we use is the “real thing”. Nelson Honey would not go to such extremes to prove the quality of their honey if it wasn’t going to measure up.
